Where to issue these necessary permits?

Nepal Tourism Board, Exhibition Road, Bhrikuti Mandap is the place where you can obtain all these necessary permits. This is located very close east of Thamel. You can take local bus, taxi or even walk to the office. Walk is in between twenty to thirty minutes and taxi could charge up to USD 3, depends on your negotiation skills. Public transports are privately operated in Nepal and mostly pack, it is not a good option. If you are flying in to Lukla then you can get TIMS card in Thamel. TIMS office is located in Manang Plaza.

When to issue these necessary permits?

TIMS card and Gaurishankar Entry Permit should be issued prior to your trek departure. Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit can be easily issued in Park Head Quarter at Monjo.

How to issue these necessary permits?

For independent trekkers, you need to fill up necessary forms. There will be form in the office, where you need to provide all your details and emergency contact address, trek routes and durations.

  • Lukla to Everest

You need TIMS and Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit, if you are flying in to Lukla. For this you can easily get TIMS in Thamel and issue National Park Permit in Monjo.

  • Jiri to Everest

You need TIMS, Gaurishankar Entry Permit and Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit, if you are trekking from Jiri to Everest. To issue Gaurishankar Permit you need to go Nepal Tourism Board Office in Thamel, at same time you can also issue TIMS card there. Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit can be issued either there or in Monjo.
