Everest Base Camp Trek Teahouse or Camping
Many people are not familiar with the term teahouse trek and camping trek. Before choosing the way of trek for Everest, lets discuss about teahouse and camping.
There are no fancy hotels in high mountain. In some places there are facilities of homestay, in some people are trying to run small scale basic hotels. The way of trekking high, eating and sleeping in these kind of teahouses is called teahouse trek.
Exploratory and expedition team always use tent for accommodation, hire a big crew for carrying food, kitchen good and number of staffs for different work. Normally this mode of trek is in use in remote trek like Dolpo, Kanchenjunga and Dhaulagiri. In simple meaning camping trek refers to the way of trekking with large support crew with private lodging and fooding. Some called it organized trek as well.
Some independent trekkers carry the personal tent and use teahouse for food. They had coined new term Semi Organized Trek for this kind of trek.
In Everest there are luxury hotels up to Lobuche at elevation close to 5000 m from sea level. From Lobuche it is a day hike to Everest Base Camp and overnight in Gorakshep before you descend back. At Gorakshep, there are four hotels named:

- Snow Land Highest Inn
- Hotel Himalayan
Each of this teahouses had big capacity to accommodate the trekkers, it is extremely buys, sometime you need to share a dorm with other trekkers or even spend a night in dinning hall. This happens in the busiest month of the years. Up to Lobuche, there are rooms ranging from USD 3 per night to USD 50 per night. Camping can be easily avoided. For peak climbing, tents and camping crew are easily available for the fixed time. You don’t need to rent gears and hire staffs all the way from Kathmandu.
So with excellent accommodation and foods along the teahouse, you shouldn’t be motivated for camping trek in Everest. Instead go for beautiful teahouse trek in the lap of world’s highest mountain.
